I am a PhD student at University College London and a Data Scientist and Future Energy Associates. My work for my PhD focuses on applying novel deep learning methods to what we believe are going to be the sustainable last mile delivery business solutions of tomorrow. Those sustainable solutions that I am looking at include the employment of (dynamic) micro-depots in urban areas, the use of quadrupedal robots for last-mile delivery, crowdshipping, the sharing of freight and passenger vehicles and drones. For a conference paper, I have published work that investigated the effect of sharing passenger space in public bus networks with freight. This work was then extended to include business models that employed micro-depots as a consolidation facility close to the delivery destinations. Additionally, I have recently been awarded a proposal for determining whether quadrupedal robots could reduce emissions/pollutants for urban last-mile delivery.
